Today's Devotional Scripture

Today's Verse
We love Him because He first loved us.
~1 John 4:19

Thoughts on today's verse...

Back in "the day", alright, I'll admit, it was in the 70's - there was a poem... I can't remember the title or author, but it went like this:

He drew a circle that shut me out,
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout!
But love and I had the wit to win,
We drew a circle that took him in!

Isn't that just like God? We try to shut Him out, but He will keep persisting, keep knocking at the door of our hearts until we just open it up a teensy little bit. Then He comes in and starts to radically transform our lives. Oh yes, there are times we try to keep Him at bay or even to walk away from Him, but He is faithful in His relationship with us - even when we are not. Philippians 1:6 states it very well, "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."

My prayer...
Thank you Dear Father, Abba, for loving me - even when I was unlovable. Please, keep working on me and conforming me into Your image. ~Amen!

Yours, because we're His,
~Tamara

  1. What a shock, Tamara...I come over here as usual and there's a whole new Blog look! Very nice! I have always loved butterflies because of their comparison to Jesus dying for us, so that butterfly you found is awesome.

And that poem is so so so wonderful...our God is so like that, He draws us in and what a wonderful comparison.

    blessings always,
