Today's Devotional Scripture

Today's Verse
Christ Himself is our peace -
Ephesians 2:14 NCV

Thoughts on today's verse...
I love the four little epistles - Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians. I remember learning their order by a little catch phrase: "gentiles eat pork chops". What is so funny about that is today's verse, in fact all of chapter 2 is about how the completed work of Christ united the "Uncircumcision" (the gentiles) and the "Circumcision" (the Jews).

Verses 13-15 actually ties it all together in explaining how we were formerly "far off" from Christ but are now all brought together and both groups have been made into one because He (Christ) has broken down the barrier of the dividing wall. We are joint heirs in the kingdom of God!

That is freedom! That is peace! That is independence - not from God, but in God! We choose (independently) to follow Him.

My prayer...
My Lord and my God - thank you for freedom, for peace and for the independence that we have in You! Thank you for your sovereign deity that has allowed us to be born here in the USA. May we always be thankful and grateful for Your provision. Amen!

Yours, because we're His,

Tamara
