Today's Devotional Scripture

Today's Verse
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
~Galatians 3:25 NIV
Thoughts on today's verse...
I'm a bit late posting today! I've been blessed with having two grandchildren spend the weekend. They are two and three years old and such a blessing, but I can assure you, I am abundantly aware why the Lord allows younger women to be moms and not us older ones (forgive me, Sarah... I couldn't have done what you did!). I also believe the Lord knew my limitations as the two children I do have are ten years apart in age.

Hanging on our refrigerator is a picture of three year old Abby's footprints with a little verse: "Walk a little slower, said a child oh so small, I'm walking in your footprints and I do not want to fall." That was her gift to her Grandpa for Father's Day. Then all this weekend, two year old Zachary steps in to any one's shoes that are left out and tries to walk in them. He stumbles, catches himself then continues on. Abby's refrigerator art and Zachary trying to fill our shoes makes me smile. But even more so, with reference to today's scripture verse admonishing us to "keep in step with the Spirit" - like Zachary, we sometimes stumble, we sometimes may even fall, but let us continue on trying to keep in step with the Spirit!
My prayer...
Abba, Father! Thank You so for today's verse and how it relates to our spiritual lives. May we walk in the Spirit and leave footprints in the lives of our children and grandchildren that will be worthy of following. Even so, Amen!

Yours, because we're His,

Tamara

  1. Oooooo....visits from the grandchildren! Heavenly! I hope that you enjoyed every moment...and I know that you did...and I hope that you get some rest (and I know you need it.. I say that with affection and love. I have two granddchildren, also.)
I love them dearly and would give my life for them...literally...and they can wear their "Nana" out. They are bundles of activity...and I am getting old...my heart and spirit are willing to keep up with them....but my body just doesn't understand! Love and smiles to you, Tamara.

  2. I know exactly what you're talking about, Tamara. I watch my four year old grandson full time and I am perpetually tired! I am way too old for all this again, but the Good Lord helps me through each day!
And I pray too that I leave footprints worthy to follow in.
    All the best,
    Eileen

  3. This is the first summer in 20 years that I haven't babysat my grandchildren full time...They all live within walking distance, so they still drop in often! They do have endless energy!

    Take care,

  4. I think Grandmothers are just that, Grand Mothers...I have nine going ong 10 and I love to read to them, snuggle, hug and cuddle them. But, oh my goodness, by the end of the day I am bushed. Those footsteps might well be mine. Thank you! This was a delightful respite! Cathy

  5. Oh, those little sweeties are truly "Tamara's Treasures" aren't they? I have 12 Gkids ages 3 to 20. Watching them grow, being a part of their lives is a blessing to me. I know the phrase you quoted and bible verse and it's always good to keep those in mind when we're with our loved ones. Thanks for your insights.

  6. What a sweet reflection and even more sweet is the appropriate comparisons that could be made through your two precious grandchildren. God works in such loving ways through us!
