Today's Devotional Scripture

Today's Verse
The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down.
~Psalm 145:13
Thoughts on today's verse...
Who of us hasn't seen the Geico insurance commercial where the top CEO is encouraging the gecko to do the corporate trust building exercise. The CEO wants to "fall backwards" into the arms of the gecko, implying that he trusts the gecko - literally and figuratively. The cuteness of the commercial is that we all can imagine what would be the final outcome for the little gecko.

But what about us? Are we able to "trust fall" into the arms of our Savior? When we are at the point where we can no longer depend upon our own strength, are we able to "fall" into the arms of our Savior? Maybe it's teaching a class, leading a Bible Study, singing a solo or working the nursery at church and we find that we are just tired, exhausted and would prefer not to do this "thing." Are we able to give up our control and fall into the arms of our Savior and allow Him raise us up to new heights?

Like the visual impact of the Geico commercial, let the scene of you falling backwards into the arms of your Savior play through your mind's eye. Then trust Him to catch you when you fall, and raise you up when you a bowed down.
Today's prayer...
Father God, sometimes I am so weary I just don't feel I can go on or walk another step... may I trust You during those times to get me through. May the words and music of Josh Groban's song "You Raise Me Up" flood my mind and give me the strength to trust You to catch me. ~Amen

Yours, because we're His,
