Today's Devotional Scripture

Today's Verse (or better... this evenings!)
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
~Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Thoughts on today's verse...
This weekend we had our 2-year old grandson staying with us. What a blessing! As skinny as this little guy is, he sure can eat and I find it amazing what he will eat at PaaPaw's and Gramma's. He ate California blend veggies (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots), roast chicken, Gramma's rice pilaf and finished it with Waldorf Salad! "Who'd a thunk it?" I know his mother was amazed.

But the most astounding thing was when we got the food ready and on the table then sat him down, he looked at the two of us then folded his hands in prayer. After PaaPaw's prayer, he echoed a hearty 'Amen!" I know that he is just mimicing what he observes in our home, but just like today's verse we are to teach our children and grandchildren. I hope that as he gets older, we will be able to share more and more with him about the Lord and faith. He loves books and being read to, so PaaPaw's considering a toddler's Bible. PaaPaw is always the one he takes his books to.
My prayer...
Lord God, may we be diligent to teach our children and our grandchildren your precepts. May they feel and sense Your Spirit when they enter our home. May our homes be a place of respite and security for them. May we show them Your unconditional love. In Jesus' name I pray ~Amen!
Special note to my blogging friends...
I was more than a little late posting today. I got up late, only got a mile and a half walked, then breakfast and shower, dress and leave for work! Now towards the end of the day I see that I have 8,760 steps, so that's well over four miles. Better than I anticipated. Marcy, sorry to have frightened you, I merely slept in and it was wonderful!

Hugz to you all,

Tamara

  2. How important to teach our children well, and your grandchild is only doing what he sees being done. What a wonderful example you are my friend.....:-) Hugs
