Today's Devotional

Today's verse

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. ~1 Peter 4:10
Thoughts on today's verse...
What gifts has God given you? Oh, not just the "things" He has blessed you with, but the actual gifts that He has endowed you with that bless the church?

I've often wondered about this in my own life. What gifts, what attributes do I have that are gifts from God? What things do I do or gifts that I possess do I use to bless the church and further the cause of Jesus Christ? These questions cause me to pause and reflect. I sorely want to see the ministry of the church proceed forward. Am I assisting or do I hinder its furtherance?
My prayer...
Lord, you bless each and everyone of us with gifts. Please make it abundantly clear what my gifts are so I may minister to others. Allow me to not merely go to church, but to be the church. In Jesus' name I pray ~Amen!

So? How about you?

Yours, because we're His,

Tamara

  1. I love that prayer!
And I'm going to pray it often because I am clueless as to what my Gifts might be. How can one possibly know in what way Gifts are to be used when you don't even know what those Gifts might be?!

Sometimes I feel like all the crumbs were brushed off the table and given to me. Is impatience a gift? Is a controlling personality a gift? What about intolerance? A short fuse?
Forgive me, but they are gifts I'd like to return!

This one spoke to my heart!
    All the best,
    Eileen

  2. I have taken a 'spiritual gifts' "test"...it was administered several years ago. I didn't know there was such a thing...but it does show which of the spiritual gifts one has...(some have more than others....)
Thank you for this post, Tamara.
Unlike the man who hid his talent..instead of using it so that it could be multiplied, I want to use what God has given me. I believe that if we ask God, He will tell us....through His word...through His Spirit...what our gifts and talents are...and it is up to us use them for His glory.
    Love to you, Tamara,
    Jackie

  3. Sometimes a talent can be as simple as the ability to listen carefully and care about someone or to help with a class presentation by passing out literature etc. etc. So many simple talents go unnoticed because we are always looking for the 'great' ones.

    blessings and hugs,

Have a great day my friend...Hugs
