Global Warming

... or so they say! We've lived in Arizona 21 years now and this is the rainiest season I recall. Not that it is a bad thing, Arid-zona can always use moisture. I'm just not used to it being tropical here.  Our small, raised bed garden is looking like the jungles of Viet Nam and the mosquitoes are horrible!  My Grandson Zachary and I are both allergic to mosquito bites so I'm trying to find something 'natural' to repel them.

The abundance of thunder and lightening displays have been wonderful.  I've been home recovering for a few days as I had cataract surgery on my right eye Wednesday.  I find comfort in the thunder and lightening as I curl up on the sofa and wrap myself in a blanket or quilt.  In some locales, a quilt is also called a 'comforter' the same name used for the Holy Spirit. I love that.

I don't know a lot about all this fuss regarding global warming.  There are some things I just don't fret about since I can do absolutely nothing about them or have it in my power to change them or the events.  We have enough worries for just today.

The patch on my eye was removed yesterday and already I'm amazed at the difference in my vision.  The opthomologist indicated I also have a cataract in my left eye.  I originally saw this opthomologist when I was diagnosed with shingles and they were so close to my left eye. I was advised to see a specialist.  This doctor looks so very young that on my second appointment I asked, "Does your Mommy know you're here and what you're doing?"  He laughed and assured me he had been doing this work for over 10-years. Seriously, he looks like he might just have finished a 4-year college.

If you have any 'home remedies' to repel mosquitoes, please share them with me!

Blessings to you,

Tamara

  1. I have read that rubbing Lemon Balm on your skin helps repel mosquitoes. I have lots of Lemon Balm in my yard. It spreads like a weed.
I'm so happy to hear of the improvement on your eye already Tamara. And I understand about the young doctors! I have a doctor that wears braces and looks like he's 16, LOL!!!
My husband and I talk about Global Warming occasionally. Usually after we see all of the record heat waves that we had back in the 30's!!
    Love Di ♥
P.S. I also once heard that eating bananas keeps the sqeeters away as do Marigolds supposedly!

  2. Thanks Di, I'll look for some Lemon Balm locally. Zach looked horrible the last time he was here and both of us just itched, itched, itched!

  3. Tamara... Skin So Soft (Avon) works to repel mosquitoes...and it softens while it repels....a two-for-one !
I love your question to the young opthomologist! (I wish someone would ask me that...!!!) Priceless.
    Hugs and love to you,
