Everything about this program is splendid – the costumes,
the sets, the characters and of course not to forget the stellar performances
given by Dame Maggie Smith and the rest of the actors. Season three will bring
Shirley MacLaine on the scene as American born Cora’s mother visiting from the U.S. I cannot wait to
see the sparks fly between the two aforementioned actresses!
Season two culminated at the end of the First World War
and of course the pandemic of the Spanish flu. The world is changing fast for
the household of Downton Abbey, too fast for some and not quite fast enough for
others.
The Hubster got me the entire set of Seasons One and Two
for Christmas. Little did he know they are the UK versions! I am delighted!
Earlier in the season, there was also a new British series
on PBS – Call the Midwife. I would actually veg out for a three hour period
watching this program, Upstairs / Downstairs next and then finally Downton
Abbey. I would have recorded them on Tivo, if I’d had such an apparatus and
known how to use it. I can barely function with a Smart Phone… (and I loath the fact the smart phone changes my words into what it believes I am trying to say!)
So, think fondly of me on Sunday evening as I vegetate while watching PBS taking in the new season of Downton Abbey! I might even have a cup of tea while doing so! (Probably Stash's Spice Chai)
Keeping it simple, sane and sacred,
Tamara

Good News Translation
8 In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.
I have watched Upstairs/Dowstairs, but I've never seen Downton Abbey. I'm going to have to watch it. It sounds great.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that your husband got you the DVDs. What a wonderful gift, my friend.
Love,
Jackie
I think you would like it, especially if you liked Upstairs/Downstairs. (I think it's better!)
DeleteHi Tamara!! I have been trying to watch Downton Abbey each time it circulates on a channel here and each time I've missed the first episode or two and friends have said to not miss one. So, I've told my girls I would like it for a birthday gift - the set to date. Call the Midwife was riveting television, I just loved it (but missed the very final episode!!) Another excuse for a gift me-thinks. Upstairs/Downstairs - superb! I don't watch a lot of TV at all but when I do, its something I could take the phone off the hook for, so to speak. (and I have to say I love a BIG screen, bigger the better)
ReplyDeleteThinking of you dear girl.
Hugs
Rose
Thinking of you, too Dearest Rose! Glad to see the post. Read it on Google reader, thus I couldn't post a comment, but so happy to see you back! Hugs!
DeleteI've never seen the show Tamara but have seen the previews for the new season. It looks very interesting. I'll have to see if I can find it amongst the 12,000 channels we have and don't watch, LOL! Love Di ♥
ReplyDeleteDear Di! So good to hear from you. Do try to catch it, and pour yourself a cuppa tea!
