Originally I joined Facebook to keep in touch with grandchildren who live almost 2000 miles away. Subsequently I find I have friends; family; contacts from high school; work; my community of faith; and bloggers. It now totals almost 200 FB Friends. That is a substantial amount of persons to maintain a cyber-relationship with. Who can do that efficiently?
How much of my daily allocation of time do I spend interacting on a social media? Facebook? Pinterest? Twitter? Stumble? Blogger? Reading blogs? Cell phone texting? Writing my own blog (not too much of that going on lately)?
Conversely, how much of my daily allocation of time do I spend interacting face-to-face with human beings?
More importantly, how much of my daily allocation of time do I spend communing with the Lord in worship, in reverence, in reading the Word, and in prayer?
How much time am I spending reading and expanding my knowledge base?
What hit me lately is that I may just blog (and use other social media)... to hear myself pontificate? I don't have any different insights or relevant information that would cause a spiritual break through for any one in particular or even anyone in general.
I feel a revolution coming on! It may be time to par down with the social media contact. I have a feeling that someday I may wish I had not spent so much of my time in front of a computer flitting my time away on social media.
Simply yours,
Tamara
Ecclesiastes 5:2
New International Version (NIV)
2 Do not be quick with your mouth,
do not be hasty in your heart
to utter anything before God.
God is in heaven
and you are on earth,
so let your words be few.
do not be hasty in your heart
to utter anything before God.
God is in heaven
and you are on earth,
so let your words be few.
I only have a blog and a dumb-phone (the old sort it can't do anything other than make a telephone call heaven forbid!)
ReplyDeleteSo I suppose I am suitably simplified :) Some even say I'm technologically wanting...
But it's simple and I like it.
I think your post has reflected a lot of people's musings in this day and age of internet and social media Tamara. I have many friends who for some time are reassessing exactly what you have shared.
Much love and hugs
Rose
Amen. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
I hope that you will maintain your blog.
ReplyDeleteI would miss you so much if you didn't...BUT I understand completely where you are coming from my sweet friend.
Just know that wherever you are...whatever you are doing, you have made a forever friend with me. I think of you often.
Love you,
Jackie
