Today's Devotional Scripture

Today's Verse

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.
~Isaiah 61:10 KJV
Thoughts on today's verse...

Do you have secret, hidden places in your life? I do. Those are the places that I retreat to and lick my wounds and sometimes just have a pity party. These are the things that I keep hidden from others. I used to think that my experiences were unique and that no one else had experienced the things I had. But the truth is many people have those secret, hidden places and have experienced the very things that I have, or worse.

The Greek word for salvation means "to save, to heal, to make complete." And that is what happens at the cross. What I have come to realize is the circumstances of life are intended to make us better, not bitter. And sometimes those very circumstances allow us to minister grace and healing to others.
My prayer...

Abba, Father... when I enter the depths of depression help me to be like Peter who walked on the water with Christ... until his focus fell on the world and off of Christ... let me raise my hand to You, that You may pull me from the murky, storm tossed waters. ~Amen

Yours, because we're His,

Tamara

  1. Hi Tamara...
It is easier to have empathy for another and understand their feelings when we have experienced similar things in our lives...this too shall pass is good for all to remember in times of feeling low.
    Our friend Marcy is back!
    Take care!

  2. Good Morning Tamara, so true my friend, I think we all have sad days, bad times....that is life. I too use the same line as Wanda, this too shall pass, and it always does. One thing we can always count on is change Tamara, today is different from yesterday. No 2 days are ever the same.
Thank you for your daily prayer.
    Have a great day....:-) Hugs

  3. Yes we all have those moments of pain and darkness. I think that if we didn't we would be supernatural! I also think that it's a good thing to let ourselves feel pain and sadness as long as we don't let it linger or take over our spirit.
Our gift to our Lord is that we find our way through the darkness hopefully with a stronger faith each time.

  4. The failure is not in falling...the failure is in not getting back up again. Through His Divine power we can do this over and over as we strive to become who we are meant to be in His Image!

    blessings and hugs,

  5. Tamara, I have pity parties often. But...I have to remember to 'turn out the lights, the party's over'...and not stay at that party too long.
You are right when you say we are not unique in our feelings....
    Thank you for the scripture.
    ..."He has covered me..."
Thank you Lord...for covering me...and for letting me know that I am not alone.

  6. Hello Tamara,
I can certainly relate to your feelings of depression, for I have spent a lot of my life feeling sad. Like Wanda and Bernie said "This too shall pass". I know it does not seem like it right now, because when you are in the pit, everything looks dark. Remember we are all here holding you up to the 'light' in prayer, sometimes that is all we need to know is that there are others who understand your pain, and are there to stand in the gap, when you can't. (((HUGS))) to you Tamara.
