Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.~1 Peter 4:10 NIV
Thoughts on today's verse...Each and everyone of us has a special gift that has been bestowed from God, the Father. Do you know what your gift is? Do you use it to serve others? I believe that in being creative, we must listen to that voice inside ourselves to help identify our ideas, dreams and aspirations.
Don't seek after your gift with your intellect, because it will vanish, but listen to your heart. Where do you find joy? Not happiness, that's different - happiness depends upon "happenings" and joy springs from within. So again I ask, what's your gift, or is it gifts?
In every active, growing church I've ever attended, there has been a group of special needs persons. I sometimes think that God has allowed them to be closer to Him in their child-like simplicity. In our current church, we have Janey. Janey is difficult to understand, but my husband can speak fluent Jane-esie. The one frequent utterance from Janey that I can understand is, "I pray for you." And she does. Faithfully. Bless her heart! She prays for my husband, for me, for our wayward children and for our grandchildren.
Father God, thank you for bestowing every believer with a gift (or gifts). May we use them to honor and serve You and the family of God. May we have the simple, childlike faith of Janey and the faithfulness of her in our prayer life. ~Amen
