Today's Devotional Scripture

Today's Verse
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.
~Philippians 4:13 NIV
Thoughts on today's verse...
In my devotional today, the title was "Let Go and Let God". I've always wanted a self-help manual on how to do this! Frankly, this is what I consider to be one of the most popular Christian cliches. I believe I've said it before, but I'm really good at giving "it" to the Lord... and then snatching it back again so I can worry and fret over it some more.

What this devotional stated is that the love of God is the key to trusting Him enough to let Him "do it." He invites us to climb off the treadmill of self-effort and rule keeping. Isn't that a wonderful thought? We actually partner with God, realizing He has the power - we do not and that is where we come to that strategic place, that point in prayer where we cry out, "Lord, help me! I can't do this!"
My prayer...
God, Father of all creation, Father of love - surround me with Your love today. With that knowledge of Your love, may I also find that deep well of trust and then release. No more of my striving and legalistic rule keeping, but the sweet scent of surrender. ~Amen!

Yours, because we're His,

Tamara

  3. I repeatedly turn things over to God, only to realize I have either snatched the problem right back or slowly taken it back!

When we get into an airplane we
'give' the pilot the controls and I SURE wouldn't dream of snatching them from him, but I definitely do a lot of praying during the trip. god iTHE PILOT and I should leave it all with Him and then pray because I need to pray.

    blessings and hugs,

p.s. Didn't know that Jackie wasn't feeling well...let's pray for her, please.

  4. Lord, we come before you this day and lift our sister Jackie up to you. Be with her, guide her, heal her and direct her path.

Then like Marcy said, You are the pilot. Let's leave the controls in Your capable hands. ~Amen!

  5. When you think about it, what easier thing in this world is there to do than to leave each and every problem in God's Hands?
I know there are some problems that need our time and attention, but those are the ones I have the most difficulty with, the ones where a decision on my part is required. I wish so many times throughout the day I didn't have to deal with them, especially when I was taking care of my Mom and Dad and different decisions had to be made, I so badly wanted to say, "God, you take care of this because I don't want to decide a future for them." But doctors and nurses and hospitals and nursing homes would hear none of that!

The big major problems that are so totally out of my hands ~ not a problem to me really at all. It's so easy for me to hand them over.
