Today's Verse
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
~Isaiah 40:31 KJV
Thoughts on today's verse...
Waiting is never easy for me. I'm not good in a doctor's office. Especially when I have an appointment for 10:15 a.m. and I'm not seen until 11:30 a.m. I understand there are emergencies but I would appreciate knowing why I have to wait so long.
But waiting on the Lord, ah, my friends, that's a different thing! I like places of solitude and quiet respite. I have a small wrought iron cafe table on my patio and that is one of my most favorite places to meet with the Lord. Early in the morning, reading His word and praying. Sometimes He will delight me with the unexpected, such as a pair of quail in my yard or the brilliant flash of a male cardinal coming to feed. Yes, starting the day with my Savior does renew my strength. Although I haven't begun running yet, I can assure you that I do not faint when walking!

My prayer...Lord, thank you for quiet places where we can renew our strength. Whenever I seem to be overwhelmed by a problem or pressing issue, I can calm myself with Your Word and a quiet place of solitude and peace. ~Amen!

Beautiful verse and beautiful prayer.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit there have been times when I've even become impatient with Our Lord. Thankful (and hopeful) that He must feel much like I do with my grandson when he gets impatient ~ exasperated but still loving.
Nice post, Tamara!
All the best,
Eileen
Guess it's a given in every State that long waits in a doctor's office just happen...too sad for the waiters (hmmm...does that mean that the females are waitresses?).
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I have tried to use my waiting times anywhere as prayer time.
blessings and hugs,
marcy
So Tamara, you're not a "patient" patient when waiting too long at the doctor's office. :)
ReplyDeleteI find the older I get...the more patient I am.
I find solitude and peace on my walks in the woods.
Take care,
Wanda
Good evening Tamara...
ReplyDeleteYour spiritual strength helps me more than you know. I was reading your devotional and your comments on your blog yesterday before I opened and read this one, and I was thinking how very strong the Lord is and has already made you.
Isn't He wonderful...
I thank Him for a friend like you, Tamara. Thank you for staying strong in His word, in prayer...in times when patience is hard...and for helping to strengthen others with your testimony.
Smiles from Jackie
I'm here to make a sick confession, I was going to click on your 'followers', but then I saw that I would be number 13 and I didn't want to do it! And I don't consider myself a superstitious person really.
ReplyDeleteAnd then I thought to myself, "How sick is this?!"
So now I have the honor of being your thirteenth follower!
Hi Tamara,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that with us! We love your
